Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about iSamurai’s AI face swap, head swap, character swap & animate, AI image generator, photo restoration and slow motion — plus how credits, plans, pricing and billing work. Search below or jump to a category.

Getting started & credits

What is iSamurai?

iSamurai is an all-in-one AI creative studio that runs entirely in your browser: AI face swap for photos, videos and GIFs, AI head swap, character swap & animate, the Imagine AI image generator, AI photo restoration and AI slow motion. You sign up free, get free credits, and are only ever charged for jobs that succeed.

How do credits work on iSamurai?

Everything runs on one credit balance: a photo face swap costs 1 credit, AI videos are billed per second, and AI image generation starts at 4 credits. The exact cost of every job is shown on the button before you confirm, so there are never surprises. The full cost table is on the pricing page.

Do my credits or the daily login bonus expire?

Bonus credits from the daily login bonus never expire — every plan, including Free, earns extra credits for each daily login, and they keep stacking for as long as you keep your account. Booster-pack credits are permanent too. See how many bonus credits each plan earns on the pricing page.

Do booster credits stack with my plan credits?

Yes — booster credits (Kunai, Katana and Shuriken packs) are added on top of your monthly plan credits and daily login bonuses, and they don’t expire. Boosters are available to paid subscribers whenever a big project needs extra headroom. Compare the packs on the pricing page.

Am I charged if a generation fails?

No — you are only charged for successful jobs. If a render fails on our side, its credits are automatically returned to your balance, on every tool from face swap to AI video. The full guarantee is spelled out in our refund policy.

How do I know what a job will cost before I run it?

The exact credit price is displayed directly on the action button before you confirm — what you see is what you pay, and choosing a higher output resolution never changes the price. Failed jobs are refunded automatically, as described in the refund policy.

How can I test AI video tools without spending a lot of credits?

Free accounts can render 1-second test clips of character swap and animate at 5 credits per second — so a test costs just 5 credits, and the Free plan’s daily login bonus covers it. For video face swap, a single-frame preview costs only 1 credit on the face swap tool.

Is there a minimum credit charge for AI videos?

Yes — paid AI video renders (character swap, animate and head swap) have a 5-credit minimum per job, and video face swap has a 25-credit minimum. Above those floors everything is billed by duration, with the exact total shown before you confirm. Full rates are on the pricing page.

AI Face Swap

How much does a photo face swap cost?

A photo face swap costs 1 credit, on every plan including Free. Upload the target photo, add one clear source face, and the AI face swap tool delivers the result in seconds. If you’re new, the step-by-step face swap guide walks you through your first swap.

How much does a video face swap cost?

Video face swaps cost 10 credits per 10 seconds of footage, with a 25-credit minimum per job. The total price appears on the render button before you confirm, and failed renders are refunded automatically. Try it on the video face swap page.

How long can a face-swap video be?

There is no length cap on face-swap videos — on any paid plan, clips of any length are billed at 10 credits per 10-second block (25-credit minimum), and the exact cost is always shown before you confirm. Video face swap is a paid-plan feature; compare all plan limits on the pricing page.

Can I swap multiple faces in one photo or video?

Yes — Multiple Faces Mode detects every face automatically and lets you map a different source photo to each person, which is perfect for group photos, couple shots and multi-actor scenes. It works for both photos and videos in the face swap studio.

Can I face swap a GIF?

Yes — GIFs are handled just like videos: upload the GIF, add one clear source photo, and the face is tracked across every frame of the animation. The quick face swap guide covers the whole flow, GIFs included.

Can I preview a face swap before rendering the whole video?

Yes — swap a single frame first for just 1 credit to check the blend, lighting and identity before committing credits to the full render. It’s the cheapest way to dial in your source photo on the face swap tool.

How do I get the best face swap results?

Use an upright, sharp, well-lit source photo where the face is clearly visible, and run a 1-credit frame preview before rendering long clips. Our face swap tutorial covers source-photo choice, Multiple Faces Mode and export settings in detail.

AI Head Swap

What is AI head swap, and how is it different from face swap?

AI head swap replaces the entire head — including hair, hairline and head shape — while face swap blends only the inner face. Head swap is the right tool when hairstyle or head geometry differs a lot between the two people, or when you want the new identity to fully take over the shot.

Is AI head swap free?

No — head swap is a premium tool available on paid plans, starting with Kohai at $9.90/month. Free accounts can use photo face swap and 1-second character-swap tests instead. See exactly what each plan unlocks on the pricing page.

How much does a head swap video cost?

Head swap costs 5 credits per second of video, or 8 credits per second in high quality mode, with a 5-credit minimum per job. The exact total is always shown on the button before you confirm. Full details are on the AI head swap page.

How long can a head swap clip be?

Clip length depends on your plan: 10 seconds on Kohai, 15 on Ninja, 30 on Ronin and 60 seconds on Samurai — and longer projects can simply be rendered as several clips. Compare plan limits on the pricing page.

How do I head swap a video, step by step?

Upload your video, pick the person to swap, map the new head from one clear reference photo, choose your frame range and output, then render. The complete walkthrough with examples and tips is in How to head swap a video with AI.

Character Swap & Animate

What is AI character swap?

AI character swap replaces an entire person in a video — body, outfit, hair and face — with a character from a single reference photo, while keeping the original motion of the scene. It goes far beyond face swap, as explained in How to replace a person in a video with AI.

How much do character swap and animate cost?

Character swap and animate cost 3 credits per second, or 5 credits per second in high quality, with a 5-credit minimum per paid render — a 10-second clip in standard quality is 30 credits. The per-second price is always shown up front on the character swap page.

Can I try character swap for free?

Yes — Free accounts can render 1-second test clips at 5 credits per second, so each test costs just 5 credits and the daily login bonus keeps them coming. It’s the ideal way to check identity and pose before committing to a longer render. Start on the AI character swap page.

Can I animate a still photo with AI?

Yes — Animate uses motion transfer: pick a driving video and a still photo, and the character in your photo performs the same motion. It’s billed like character swap, at 3 credits per second (5 in high quality). See the full guide in Animate a character with AI motion transfer.

What is pose matching, and why does it matter?

Pose matching aligns your reference photo with the pose of the person in the video before the swap, which dramatically improves identity, clothing and hair consistency. The built-in editor lets you scrub the timeline, transform your source image and match the pose manually on the character swap page.

What is the experimental v3 engine?

Alongside the stable engine, character swap offers an opt-in experimental v3 engine, currently in beta. It can produce stronger motion and identity on some clips, but as a beta its results vary more — run a cheap 1-second test first before a long render.

What are seeds, and how do I reuse them?

Every render displays the seed it used; re-running with the same seed and the same inputs reproduces a very similar result, so you can iterate on a look you like instead of starting from scratch. Seeds and other workflow tips are covered in the character swap guide.

Imagine — AI image generation & editing

What is Imagine, iSamurai’s AI image tool?

Imagine is our AI image generator and editor: type a prompt to generate a new image, add an image to edit it with text, paint a region to change only that area, or add several images to compose them into one. The mode switches automatically from your input — no settings to learn.

How much does AI image generation cost?

Generating an image costs 4 credits in standard quality and 10 credits in high quality. Variations multiply the price by the number of outputs, and the exact total is shown before you confirm. Try it on the AI image generator.

How much does AI image editing cost?

Text-guided edits of an existing image cost 2 credits in standard quality and 8 in high quality — describe the change and Imagine applies it. It’s ideal for background swaps, outfit changes and relighting, straight from the Imagine studio.

What is Region Selection (inpainting), and what does it cost?

Region Selection is AI inpainting: paint a mask over the exact area you want changed and only that region is regenerated, leaving the rest of the picture untouched. It costs 4 credits in standard quality and 15 in high quality on the AI image generator.

Can I combine several images into one?

Yes — Compose mode merges several input images into one coherent picture: put a person into a new scene, combine products, or mix references. Compose costs 8 credits in standard quality and 15 in high quality in Imagine.

What are custom steps in Advanced mode?

Advanced mode exposes a steps slider for fine control over generation; when you set a custom step count, the job is billed at 2 credits per step instead of the preset price. It’s a power-user option for squeezing extra detail out of the AI image generator.

Photo Restoration & Slow Motion

How much does AI photo restoration cost?

AI photo restoration costs 1 credit per photo, on every plan including Free. With free signup credits and the daily login bonus, you can restore photos every single day without paying anything.

What can AI photo restoration fix?

It sharpens blurry faces, cleans up noise and compression artifacts, and brings faded old family photos back to life — no photo-editing skills required. Upload a scan or an old snapshot to the photo restoration tool and compare the before/after in seconds.

How much does AI slow motion cost?

AI slow motion is billed per second of source video: 2x costs 2 credits/second, 4x costs 3, and 8x costs 7. For example, a 5-second clip at 4x is 5 × 3 = 15 credits, with the total shown before you confirm.

Which plans unlock 2x, 4x and 8x slow motion?

Slow motion is a paid feature: Kohai and Ninja unlock 2x, Ronin unlocks up to 4x, and Samurai unlocks 8x super slow motion. The Free plan doesn’t include slow motion — compare tiers on the pricing page.

What resolution are slow-motion exports?

Kohai and Ninja export at 480p, Ronin unlocks 720p HD, and Samurai unlocks Full HD 1080p — with no watermark on any paid plan. See examples and the full breakdown on the AI slow motion page.

Plans, pricing & billing

How much does iSamurai cost?

There are five plans: Free ($0), Kohai $9.90/month, Ninja $29/month, Ronin $49/month and Samurai $79/month. Each paid tier includes a monthly credit allowance plus a daily login bonus, and higher tiers unlock longer clips and higher resolutions. The full comparison lives on the pricing page.

How does yearly billing work?

Yearly plans give you 12 months for the price of 9 — three free months: Kohai $89.91/year, Ninja $261/year, Ronin $441/year and Samurai $711/year. You get the same monthly credits and perks, just billed once a year at a discount on the pricing page.

What are Maxi plans?

Maxi variants multiply your monthly credits and exist only for Kohai and Samurai: Kohai Maxi is $15/month for 300 credits (or $135/year) and Samurai Maxi is $150/month for 12,000 credits (or $1,350/year). They follow the same yearly 12-for-9 rule; details on the pricing page.

What are credit boosters (Kunai, Katana, Shuriken)?

Boosters are one-time credit packs for paid subscribers: Kunai $9.90 for 200 credits, Katana $39 for 1,000 and Shuriken $59 for 2,500. Booster credits stack on top of your plan credits and never expire — perfect for a big project month. Grab one from the pricing page.

What output resolutions does each plan unlock?

The resolution ladder runs from 480p up to 1080p: Free and Kohai render AI video at 480p, Ninja adds 576p, Ronin unlocks 720p HD and Samurai unlocks 1080p Full HD — with face-swap output up to 1080p on Samurai. Resolution never changes the credit price; see the ladder on the pricing page.

Where can I download my invoices?

Every payment generates an invoice you can download anytime from the Profile page inside the app. Just log in to your dashboard, open Profile and pick the invoice you need — handy for expense reports and business accounting.

What is the refund policy?

You are only charged for successful jobs, and failed renders are credited back automatically — so most issues never need a refund at all. For anything else, open a Support ticket first and we review each request individually. The full rules are in the refund policy.

Account, privacy & support

Can I change my username?

Yes — open the Profile page in the app and pick a new username; a real-time availability check confirms it’s free before you save. Log in to your dashboard to update it in seconds.

I signed up with Google — can I set a password?

Yes. Accounts created with Google sign-in can set a password from the Profile page, so you can also log in with email and password afterwards. Log in and set it once — Google sign-in keeps working alongside it.

Are my uploads and results private?

Yes — your gallery is private to your account: your uploads and renders are not published, shared or used as public examples. How we handle your media and data is documented in the privacy policy.

Can I delete my images and data?

Yes — you can delete individual items from your private gallery at any time, and you can request a full wipe of your account data. The retention and deletion rules are described in the privacy policy.

How do I contact support?

Open a Support ticket from inside the app — it’s the fastest way to reach a human who can see your account and the exact job in question. Log in and start a ticket; billing questions are covered by the refund policy.

What are the content rules?

Only upload media you have the right to use, and get consent before putting a real person’s face in generated content. The complete rules — including prohibited uses — are in the terms of use.

Does iSamurai have an API?

Yes — paid plans get API access, so you can run face swaps and other jobs programmatically from your own scripts and apps. Endpoints, authentication and examples are in the API documentation.
